Monett Speech Pathology Department
Instructor: S. Sloan, M. Hastings, C. Zahn, J. Seawel

Judy Seawel - MIS & MES
After many years of Speech/Language Pathology experience in Southeast Missouri, my husband and I moved in May of this year to the Southwest Missouri area.  We moved here primarily to be with our adult children and their families, which include seven wonderful grandchildren.   I am very excited about becoming a "Cub" and working with students and parents to improve communication skills.

Suzanne Sloan - MES
I am very excited to begin my first year at Monett R-1! I am a recent graduate of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. I also recently got married and we now reside in my hometown of Pierce City, MO with our golden retriever, Wally :). I love working with children, as they are so eager to learn and have fun! I look forward to working with your child.

Morgan Hastings - CPE
This is my first year as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with the Monett R-1 School District.  This past year has been very exciting for me.  In May 2014, I graduated from Missouri State University with my Masters Degree in Speech-Langugae Pahtology: then, just a few weeks after graduation I got married!  I am excited to be part of the Monett R-1 School District as a faculty memeber.  I grew up in Monett, and graduated from Monett HIgh School in 2008 - "There is no place like home!"

Carrie Zahn - ECH & MHS
I'm excited to be returning to Monett Schools providing contract therapy for Preschool and MHS students. I grew up in PC, but have lived in Monett for 10 years and worked for the district for 9 of those years. I am a graduate of the University of Texas-Dallas with a Master of Science in Communication Disorders. I'm married with two children. I love to read, travel, and watch movies.

Better Speech and Hearing Month

The month of May is nationally recognized as Better Speech and Hearing Month! This year’s theme is Communication: The Key to Connection. The Speech-Language Therapy Department at Monett R-1 School District firmly believes that communication is the key to making connections within the classroom and the community.

The Monett R-1 School District has a growing Speech-Language Therapy Department with five licensed Speech Language Pathologists: Judy Seawel, Carrie Zahn, Suzanne Sloan, Morgan Hastings, and Elizabeth Stotlemeyer. The department currently serves over 250 students district wide.

The services provided through speech and language therapy by our SLP staff are an asset to our district as well as our community. The benefits of speech and language intervention for our students with speech and/or language impairments help them make stronger connections both academically and socially.

The goal of our department is to facilitate the emergence of well-spoken, articulate members of society. It is our mission for the students of the Monett School District to enter higher academic arenas or areas of chosen work ready to meet daily challenges and live a fulfilled, productive life.

The Speech-Language Pathology Department is privileged to celebrate throughout the month of May by helping teachers promote better speech and language skills within the classroom. As a department, we would like to thank teachers and administrators for their continued support and collaboration in helping students make the connections necessary to reach their full potential.
